Introducing the Tuatara Crest, an upgraded version of our original SSC Blackout rooftop tent in New Zealand. Weighing only 49.5kgs, it's our most compact design, making it an excellent fit for smaller vehicles or ute trays. The slatted base design reduces weight and minimizes condensation. Notable enhancements include a longer front door for better water runoff, side windows for improved ventilation, a larger power cord entry, an improved cover design, and an upgraded telescopic ladder design. With a 70mm high-density foam mattress, you'll enjoy a comfortable night's sleep.

    MATERIALS AND FEATURES:

    • Blackout Tent Fly: 200D Ripstop Polyester fly with a 20,000mm waterproof rating. Blackout diffuses light for longer sleep-ins and a cooler interior.

      Like a Waterfall

I imagine that whoever designed this only tested it during the dryer, warmer months. The condensation inside this tent gets horrendous! And I mean waterfall from the ceiling and walls, to the point where you have to have a towel handy to wipe the water from your head throughout the night. Even with both side windows open and the door open (fly mesh screens closed), we still woke in the night with damp bedding and water dripping from the walls. Size wise- my husband and I can sleep comfortably side by side with a little bit of room at the end and between us. Being larger than your average person (not huge by any means) it was a concern that we would be comfortable. It would be an amazing tent to use every weekend (being avid traveller's of the great NZ outdoors) but boy, the condensation is next level! Definitely can see it being used often in dryer months but not year round, which is disappointing.

      Cool Tent

Have spent a night in . Ladder is stable and as a old fella I’m confident on it for a *** in the middle of the night . It did have condensation on a very wet and misty cold night It can easily alleviate by opening side windows and because it has the porch cover , the front door can be partially open for ventilation. Tent looks sexy on car . Easy to bolt on and the form is small and compact . All the material is tight and doesn’t flap in breeze . My wife loves the tent and finds the mattress very comfortable . It’s cozy/smallish but I can stretch out at 6 foot 3 no problem . Although my head might touch end of tent may be problem if high humidity . II have this problem on all 2 person tents as a tall person . I think this is perfect two person three season and 1person winter tent . I intend to use above the snow line this winter so will write another review after ten days down south.
